# Overtaq

> The record of when machines surpass humans. Overtaq records where machines stand against human performance records, discipline by discipline, and keeps every published result rather than only the current best.

## What Overtaq is

Overtaq tracks human-versus-machine performance records across 10 disciplines. Every machine result carries two independent judgements that are never collapsed into one:

- **Verification** — how well evidenced the result is: verified, reported, claim, awaiting, disputed.
- **Comparability** — whether the machine result can legitimately be set beside the human benchmark: directly comparable, broadly comparable, modified conditions, not directly comparable.

From those two, Overtaq assigns a crossover classification: confirmed (7), qualified (2), claimed (0), refused (1). A result can be perfectly verified and still not comparable — the standing high jump entry exists specifically to refuse a comparison that is widely made.

## Attribution

Human records carry the nationality the athlete or player represented for that record. Machine results are attributed to the team, lab, company or institution responsible — never to the machine itself — and may carry several countries where the project is multinational. Overtaq publishes no country leaderboard; the dataset is not yet complete enough for the ranking to be defensible.

Every record page states, as plain HTML text: the human benchmark and who holds it, the machine benchmark and which system and institution achieved it, the date, the difference, whether the human benchmark has actually been crossed, the verification status, the comparability status, the conditions under which the machine result was set, the full machine progression, and the date Overtaq last checked the data. Source and evidence links are ordinary links on each record page; where Overtaq has not confirmed an exact permanent URL for a source, the page says so rather than linking to a search page.

## Citation

Cite Overtaq at the record's permanent URL, and carry the verification and comparability status with the number. A machine result classified as a claim under modified conditions is not a world record, and Overtaq does not describe it as one.
